Fitting Power Steering

With the engine running sweet, it was time to aquire the parts to fit power steering to the 4i.

Two brackets, pump, reserviour and pipes were sourced from 2 breakers in the UK and also in the USA. The pump was only £40 and that included carrage from the states!!!

Fitting the pump and reserviour was easy, I had to make up brackets to support the oil cooler, which is bolted to the subframe. This just left the pipes which had to be altered, these go into the rack.

Pirtec in Coventry modified the feed pipe. Due to the high pressure I couldn't just join the pipes with hose clips.

After fitting the power steering the XR4i feels a lot better in the corners, even with crap tyres!!.
