The XR4Register Profile for Martin Hobbs

Ford Sierra XR4x4 2.9 24V

Photo Gallery for Martin Hobb's XR4x4

I bought this XR4x4 in May 2004 from the local admag for £400. It had 140,000 miles and was totally standard.

Since then:

  • A stainless exhaust was made up locally at "Shiny Bitz".
  • Front end completely poly bushed.
  • Koni adjustable suspension.

The car was vandalised in April 2005 which started it all off with a complete re-spray. Shortly after the 17" Black Team Dynamics multi spokes were fitted.

Dec 2005, it was off to Top Boss in Derby for Group 1 24v engine mod. Subsequently a set stainless headers were made up to fit the existing exhaust. A paddle clutch was added to transmit the power and Hi Spec big brake kit 335mm with 4 pots front and 300 mm discs with standard calipers on the rear. Blue silicon hoses were added and front + rear strut braces.

May 2006 underneath was stripped and painted with blue chip-proof paint and the rear end got the poly bush treatment. All suspension components got powder coated blue.

Future plans include after market engine management and a supercharger running low boost as it is a high compression engine. Cosworth side skirts to be added as soon as they are painted.

The car is being fine tuned before it goes on the rollers to see what it produces.
