The XR4Register Profile - Dave Reading
aka Jaffa
Ford Sierra XR4x4 2.9
Having got rid of my faithful 2.8i Capri, I stumbled across a Sierra XR4x4. She was a company car for the first 3 owners before being sold to the owner before me. I bought the car on 14.05.05 with the intention of just driving it to work and back, then I fell upon the XR4 Register in 2005 and here I am with a head full of ideas but not the pocket full of cash just yet!!!
Having joining the XR4 Register in 2005 I attended 7 shows that season and made a lot of good friends. I will continue to attend as many shows as I can and enjoy showing her off to the public.
The plan is to enjoy the car, the shows and do the jobs as and when time and money permit. The car is totally standard and I do have plans to modify the car but at present unsure as to what yet and when funds allow. Keep looking and it will be done one day.
Modifications:
18.11.07 - Another purchase at the Ford Enth Show - More 'Bling', a new wiper motor cover and plate.
19.08.07 - Fitted front suspension: Adjustable AVo shcocks & springs, 28mm roll bar, fully polybushed, custom powder coated strut brace and group N top mounts. Also on the rear suspension: Adjustable AVO shocks & springs.
14.12.06 - I have started to change the standard hoses for blue Samco hoses.
12.08.06 - Have added some 'Bling' items in the engine bay in the shape of; power steering tank cap, ABS cover, powdercoated and polished plenum and also throttle body.
23.04.06: Whilst at the RS Central reg day I added some more bling in the shape of a header tank cap, abs cap cover and some headlight brackets. Interior wise ive added a stainless dash panel and window switch surround
04.04.2006: Have added some exhaust heat shields which have been powder coated red, fitted alloy rocker covers powder coated silver and fixed with some stainless cap head bolts, and some more bling in the shape of a bonnet catch stabalizer bar, coil can and bracket and abs shield.
17.11.2005: Next up was a K&N 57i induction kit. The car revs up very nicely and im sure the induction is sucking the inner wing in!
15.11.2005: As I had a few days off work, I decided to get the cats removed and add the Scorpion exhaust with some 'Powerflow' downpipes. This made such
a difference that I drove home for 12 miles just listening to the exhaust note!
13.11.05: Whilst at the Ford Enthusiasts Show, I decided that there was something lacking in the engine bay 'shiney bits'!, So out came the wallet and a few trips back and forward from the traders and I added the following Stainless Steel bits: bonnet stay, battery clamp, suspension top covers, washer bottle top, slam panel aperture covers and it wouldn't be the same without the Fuse box cover.
