The XR4 Register at RS Owners Club National Day 21st Aug 2005

New Event

Well, what can we say? Our first time at this show was certainly a success.

After meeting at Donington Services, all be it without James who was still in the land of nod Zzzzz. Even Ken banging on his door, Caz & Dave phoning, it still did not awake the scoundrel Stockwin!. We all arrived in XR4 Register 4orce at Donington bright and Early!. Joined by Ralph (East Mids XROC) and his kids Bryony & Hayley. Unfortunately those that were supposed to be joining Ralph did not show so Ralph was an XR4 Compact for a day.

A well organised event by the RS Owners Club team, with lots of trade stands and items to buy. Some parting with more cash then others !. Gengis bought a new paddle clutch (with a little persuasion from Caz) although not much was needed as his plastic came flying out of his wallet quicker than his 0-60 time!!

There were lots of action and noise to see and hear on the track not to mention the Thrills and spills ... literally!. The exhibition races of yesteryear included RS500 touring cars, Formula One cars and also Touring Cars with the original Drivers!. One of our members even managed to talk to Andy Rouse!. It was certainly an exciting day on and off the track. Perhaps the latter is not the case to those that crashed their cars going round the track !

The new flags and show plates certainly looked the part. With a lot of interest, a great turnout of peeps and cars we won 'Best Visiting Car Club Stand' . It was good to see Norman 'legs 11' and his far too shiney concourse 4x4. We managed to force him to represent the XR4 Register and receive the award at the RS Awards ceremony at the end of the day.

The muppet award goes to Dave 'Spark Plug 3.7' for showing us his anti theft device. It certainly worked Dave, as the car was going nowhere!. Next time please remember, instead of getting everyone worried.
