The XR4Register at the RS Central Show - Sun 22nd April 2007

With Santa Pod's own weather system and going by previous weather conditions for this show, we all know it can be very fickle. Luckily the weather continued to be dry albeit mostly cloudly. We were a few members down at this show as the XR4 Register was also attending the Ford Enthusiasts Show at Donington on the same day (Click for Ford Enth Show Report).

The show was packed with club stands and traders but the queue down to the strip did not appear to be the usual tail back of cars. For once it seemed to flow quite well and the strip was busy with various cars throughout the day with only a few stops due to gearbox's/transmission carnage.

With the stand all sorted the cleaning frenzy was upon the crew. Also joining in with the cleaning was new member Steve with his cossie powered XR4i.

The strip took a couple of casualties at the end of the day in the shape of a broken diff on Steve's XR4i, but the XR4 Reg Breakdown Recovery unit was in response curtsey of Bob and his tow bar, Bob managed to tow Steve outside the gates to wait for a recovery truck. We hope you got home okay.

No show is complete without an Ando saga, this time a fix was needed on the stand to fit his boost actuator better, as on the way he was getting hardly any boost. With this temporary mod done off flew Ando to sign on, after his many runs down the strip, time to stop was evident, as knocking noises were coming from his diff so Ando was taking no chances and called it a day.

The day would not be complete without the various grudge matches. With Al & Pablo going head to head with Gengis. Pete against Ando, and not content with Pete, Ando then decided to go against Steve, cossie power against cossie power... who came out on top check below for their best 1/4 mile times.

1/4 Mile Run Best Times
Steve - XR4i Cossie = 12.91
Ando - XR4i Cossie = 13.92
Pete - XR4i 5L V8= 13.99
Gengis - XR4i 4L Explorer = 14.22
Al - XR4x4 Janspeed Turbo = 15.40
Pablo - XR4x4 Janspeed Turbo = 15.56

Scroll further down for video footage and more pics. Thanks to all who turned up, a good day was had by all.
