The XR4Register at Ford Fair, Silverstone - Sun 5th August 2007
|
Most of the shows recently had been washed out and the week commencing Ford Fair was looking gloomy too!, but it was Ford Fair and the die hards were going no matter wot!.
The order was sent out that one and all should meet up bright and early, as we would not be taking any chances with the queuing situation at Silverstone. We all got on the stand in timely fashion and accommodated the latecomers on our stand next to the well set-up XROC stand.
Whilst the stand was getting sorted, it was apparent that it was going to be a nice and sunny day ! How nice and sunny was an understatement! It was
glorious! The stand was laid out allowing the track action boys easy access on and off the stand and not making it look like it had been gate crashed!
There were a few omissions this year, Gengis couldn't join us nor could Caz and Dave but our overseas member, George Newton from the Netherlands did his duty and joined us with his very tidy XR4i. The local mainland folk made up
the rest of the number along with some newcomers: Les, Rachael, Nev and Max. A total of made 18 cars were on show.
The stand was busy day all day long, if it wasn't answering questions or
sorting parts out for the public and fixing ABS faults, once again Bhav was
looking after the fort and only had a chance to have a look round the closing
moments of the show ! So Thanks to Paul M for taking some pics that were usable in this report. The star of the stand was deffo the Tangoed Orange XR4x4
2.9 powered P100 belonging to Phil. It was certainly a crowd puller and a half!
Some of the motley crew went round the track and others had a stint at the 0-60 stretch but alas no one gave us any figures to place here. Too embarrassed perhaps!
The feed back from all our crew was that it was a fab show and it certainly lives up to its name as the 'Best Ford Show' in the UK!
So its same time, same preset next year !
